Boilers:  A boiler works by heating water to create either hot water or steam which is distributed through pipes to steam radiators, baseboard radiators or radiant floor systems.  A boiler’s efficiency is measured by annual fuel utilization efficiency (AFUE) a measurement of the amount of heat actually delivered to your house compared to the amount of fuel you must supply to the boiler. Note the AFUE refers only to the unit’s fuel efficiency, not its electricity usage.  Energy Star products must have an AFUE rating of 85% or greater, meaning 85% of the fuel you supply to the boiler goes directly into heating your home and only 15% is wasted.  B Miller Mechanical & Contracting is proud to offer high efficiency boilers and would be happy to recommend the right boiler for your home or commercial property.

Furnace Heat Pumps:  Heat pumps can be used year round. In the winter, heat pumps heat your home by drawing heat from the air or ground outside and circulating it through the ducts and into the rooms of your home. In the summer time, a heat pump cools your home by capturing heat from the inside of your home and release it into the outdoors.

What are the benefits of heat pumps?

  • Dehumidifies indoor air as it cools
  • Can be used year round, making them cost effective
  • Can produce smaller temperature swings, adding to your comfort
